Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the significant Tiger Reserves in India with a great biodiversity of other animals as well.
Bandhavgarh National Park is situated in Umaria, Madhya Pradesh and it was acknowledged as a National Park in 1968 and announced as a Tiger Reserve in 1993. The total area of this National Park is 1536 Square Kilometre comprising a wide variety of animals. This National Park has been a legacy of some famous tigers, like one was photographed by National Geographic Channel and became the cover of their magazine as well. It was one of the most photographed tigers in the world. Amazingly, here tigers appear very near to the safari cars, so photography enthusiasts get good scopes of tiger photography. But unfortunately, many tigers have lost their lives due to poaching activities.
Wildlife in Bandhavgarh : Bandhavgarh National Park possesses one of the highest density of tigers in India including white tiger and a great number of Indian leopards as well. Besides big cat family, there are sambar, chital, barking deer, nilgai, Indian wolves and amazing variety of birds as well. Yellow-crowned woodpecker, spotted dove, Brown fish owl etc are among them.
Best season to visit : November to April.
Best possible route : Bandhavgarh is almost 1007 km from Kolkata via Asian Highway 1. Jabalpur city is very near to Bandhavgarh. It is well connected by flight to other major cities in India including Kolkata. By train, it will be good to reach Allahabad and then, to reach Umaria by train.
