Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, a birds’ paradise, is a renowned park for numerous exotic and rarest avifauna species. Not only for the bird lovers and bird watchers but also it’s an ideal destination for nature lovers. The serenity of nature here combines with the melodious chirping sound of birds. The area covers approx 29 square kilometers including swampland and scrublands and grasslands.

 

Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary was formerly used as a hunting ground for the local rulers. Later, in 1976, it was upgraded as a protected bird sanctuary and in 1982, it was declared as the National Park. From then, it was named as Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Also, in 1985, it got the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Let’s find out the rich biodiversity of this national park.

 

Biodiversity in Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary - Plethora of birds, a wide array of waterside winged creatures, and various species of floras have enriched this sanctuary. Different species of birds include Geese, Pelicans, Eagles, Stints, Warblers, Pipits, Shanks, Larks, and migratory birds are found in this protected park. Along with these, Sambar, Nilgai, Chital, Nilgai are the names creatures found in Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. Hence, the national park welcomes zoology students, scientists, and researchers.

 

Best time to visit- Winter (October to March) is the best time to visit this national park as it offers wonderful views of both migratory and domestic birds.
